I'd be really pissed to buy iClone and later realize I needed to tack on another 15k to get it to export (and yes, there's a bundle that's way lower, which really just underscores why the fuck are you selling it for that much if you bundle it for lower?) After you buy the mocap plugin, you still have to buy a plugin for your particular mocap system, which can range from $99 to $1990. Except, you have to buy another software package called Motion Live ($100) for the mocap, and then you have to buy another software called 3D Exchange 7 ($499) to export to UE4, except there's also another software Unreal Live Link ($1,490) that does something else, but it's possibly free for Indie developers who can show proof that they don't make $100,000. Does it export to UE4 or not? There's a bundle with iClone for animation and mocap. That's reasonable, right?Įxcept, it's not even remotely simple. There's a 50% discount due to Covid now, and it's current price is $199. What's not to like, right? So naturally, I looked at cost first.
Not only does it look better, but according to the feature page, it can export Unreal Skeletons. I saw a YouTube video about the software, and it looked way better than Fuse. It feels practically impossible to figure out what you need or what you are getting.
